Simple review: bike is totally sick, smoking fast and the coolest ride out there. Got stopped by a cop to tell me---"that's a serious bike"
Others have said--"is that thing legal?

As you can imagine, I am really happy with the new bike.
The fit is superb, both aero and on the handlebars, which I was never able to accomplish on my other bike (cannondale slice). I also feel so much more stable. I find myself on the aerobars on turns that I wouldn't even consider staying aero last month. The construction of the frame is flawless and I absolutely love the road feel (energy transfer, etc. etc.) I have had other carbon bikes, which I never loved, and I have a six-13 (love) road frame and an axiom seven (great bike--but not fit well), and this bike has the best road feel--no comparison. It doesn't feel awkward or twitchy like other TT bikes, I've tried. When I drive a car, I prefer stiffness as well, and the guru is clearly the ultimate riding machine. Climbing on our mini climbs in the Midwest is effortless---easy to stay aero and just choke up on the aero bars and sit back a little. The same saddle, which I hated on my other bike, seems great on the guru, as well. seat post is great too, because you know it's straight every time--a simple detail which makes a difference.
In short, I will have no excuses this year on the bike. That was the goal when I went to visit paul. This is as good as it gets, and I appreciate everyone's help getting me onto a custom crono.

Hi Guru bikes, here's a little story about my new Guru...

I bought my Guru Carbonio/Ti last summer. I didn't actually see the bike until October though (but that's another story that has more to do with me living in Paris and nothing to do with Guru). I was so excited when I finally received the bike! I couldn't believe how light it is... but more specifically, I was overwhelmed with the comfort and rigidity. For years I rode a steel Columbus SLX bike over the cobbles and the rough streets of Paris. I immediately noticed the Guru was more comfortable over the same streets I'd ridden over time and time again. After the first ride in Paris I came home actually feeling less wiped out than before from hammering in the Bois de Boulogne for over 2 hours at around 35-45KM/hour. My wife said I looked less tired than I usually did after such a ride.

Since I received my Guru I've been afflicted with this little distraction every time I ride. You see before, my steel bike never attracted much attention. Well, in fact, it got zero attention. Now I can't go on a group ride without a battery of questions, where did you buy your bike, how light is it, is it custom, and is it American? Oh that question bugs me! "Guru is Canadian!" I shout back over the hum of the pack. But the one question, way out of the norm for the French culture is the following..."if it isn't too indiscrete, may I ask you how much you paid for your bike?" An answer I never give as I'd rather let them guess and dream on.

With my work I also get to travel to far reaches of the planet. In November I was in Sydney, Australia presenting to a an audience of about 500 people where my computer's desktop, an image of the Guru Carbonio/Ti, popped up for a few seconds in between a PowerPoint presentation and a software demo. After the presentation, a big and jubilant guy approached me. Inside I was thinking, I wonder what technical questions he was about to ask me about the software I just demonstrated. Instead he asked me about the background image on my computer and said that he had just read an article in the Australian Bike magazine on the Guru Carbonio/Ti. He was in awe I actually owned one and he wanted to know all the details, cranks, BB, wheels, etc. I was amazed at how this rather large man was so interested in bikes. So I turned the questioning onto him. It turns out this rather large man had just won a local criterium the weekend before. He rubbed his belly and showed me his legs and said he knew how to ride in the pack without working too hard and how he would then sprint his way to the finish on the final lap to take the crown. We became instead friends and spent the rest of the conference sharing old cycling tales.

Thank you Guru for making me stand out in the pack and for helping me make a friend down-under.

The GURU bike is absolutely phenomenal! Fit really well right from the beginning with very little adjustments, custom is the way to go, as far as I am concerned! I've been riding it for 3 months now with hundreds of kilometers logged so far, since training for the 08 Austria Ironman. Besides the tremendous power transfer, stiffness, light-weight, shock absorption, fast feel, and beautiful finish… It's the fit and comfort that is the most noticeable. I get off the bike after 4 or 5 hours riding and am not fatigued from the bike other than my riding legs and go straight into the run… It is absolutely amazing; I've never felt so good getting off a bike after a long ride before. Your design team and sizing specialist hit it right on…

The bike was delivered a couple days before Ultraman Worlds and I rode on it for 20 minutes. I was blown away by how light it is and responsive. It lacks the stiff iron like feeling my Griffen has and it is superior to my Colnago top of the line bike. I think it corners much better because I never felt any hesitation leaning in to the curves. It just felt right. It stops on a dime which amazed me and braking is key in the world of safety.

Day one 6.2 mile swim and I was 11th out of the water out of 34 good start. Now 90 miles up to the Volcano . I did this in record time and was extremely happy. When I would get next to or behind a biker if I wanted to pass somebody it would accelerate at will. Amazing.

Day two a 171 miles bike ride with a 35 miles decent which I traditionally lead and I won this as well as hard as one guy tried to beat me had a mile lead on second place. I was in aero position going 50 miles plus and felt 100% safe and comfortable all the time.

Once on the flat ground we entered the red road which is rolling. I passed the top two female bikers who passed me after the descent and they couldn’t believe that my bike would accelerate so fast down the hill over the hill it was a joy.

Shanna Banana later said you owned that red road what did you do?
I think the bike is highly responsive and really accelerates quickly.

Then multiple hills and such over the Kohala Mountains where it blows 40 to 50 knots for about 25 miles again total comfort and no being blown about wheels are fine. I heard from my guy that some who use these wheels and it rains it can be a problem because they don’t drain fast enough but we had dry conditions.

I think I pushed Monica over the edge and she is buying one. I am certainly buying my wife one .

Oh yes, the major point is every person at the end the bike days commented “You don’t look tired what up with you.”
I have to say I felt no pain and refreshed and not beaten up in the least which is the norm or has been.

First off let me tell you how much I love my bike. It rocks! It gets more attention than the beginner riding it. I am learning and training on the best bike out there. I hope one day to live up to the potential this bike has to offer.  Thanks again…I love the ride.

It was great seeing you out in Kona and just wanted to share my story with you.  As a dealer we sell several different brands of bikes, and while always a huge supporter of the Guru craftsmanship, I truly didn't really appreciate it until I experienced it for myself. I have a Guru Crono and was fortunate enough to qualify for The Ironman World Championship in Hawaii this year, primarily based on a 5:29 bike split (which included a 4:00 minute penalty).  Shortly after the race I noticed my seat clamp had worked loose so I sent it back to you for repair.  During the time it was with you I rode my Kuota to train.  The difference in ride quality and comfort was immediately noticeable, and even more so when I got my bike back from you (with my new paint job, thank you).

To experience the comfort on the Crono, one would assume you have to give up something.  Not with this bike, the stiffness allows for full power transfer, yet the bike eats up any imperfections in the road.

Keep up the good work, hope to see you in Kona again next year.Just reached 1000 kms on the Guru; I must conclude the most comfortable Ks I have ridden, from first sitting on the bike at Troisport for the set up which was expertly handled by Marc and Steve I new it was right, it felt perfect. I decided my first ride would keep to 60km – thought I would need time to adjust to the improved riding position, the first thing I noticed was how smooth it felt, even on our not so great roads it was effortless and I immediately found a comfortable rhythm, the Sunday rides are now up to 5hrs in duration mostly in the aero position with no issues at all. Obviously the fit has a lot to do with this, but I guess that's why you buy a custom Guru.

Now that I have had a chance to ride the Geneo for a few months I wanted to give you my comments. For starters, the bike fit like a glove right out of the box. The effort you went through to not only customize this bike, but to incorporate some measurements from my old bike really made an incredible difference. The bike, needless to say, is absolutely gorgeous and looks like it belongs in an art museum. I get constant comments, and my bike was the catalyst for one of the locals to purchase a beautiful orange and black Crono.

The bike is a joy to ride. The handling is superb, and I am constantly winning sprints against people who used to beat me.

When you buy a bike, you think of quite a few different things: the material it's made of, the reputation of the manufacturer, the way it rides, and to be honest, the way it looks. When I bought my Guru Crono from Jack and Adam's in Austin, I spent five hours trying different bikes, different wheelsets, and fiddling with adjustments to get the bikes as close as I could in all ways except the frame. I settled on the Crono because it was, quite simply, the best bike I had ridden in 30 years of riding, including seasons of bike racing and six Ironman triathlons. It accelerated, it was soft and smooth, it was so responsive. Had someone tried to tell me this in advance, I wouldn't have believed them. But when I rode it, I found myself smiling and shaking my head – truly, I did – on a backroad of Austin, because I just didn't know a bike could feel like that.

The Crono is an absolute rocket, a joy to ride. Holds the road like a rail, down on the aerobars not at all unstable or twitchy. I can't believe how this bike accelerates. Climbs unbelievably, too, even with my big behind on board. 55 fast miles yesterday out through Alamance Co. and all my parts feel pretty good today. Thank you for delivering a dream bike to me that more than lives up to its expectations. Just have to tell you I cherish the day I met you two, and thanks again for all you've done for me and my happiness on the bike.

I just want to say I FINALLY built up the Geneo and have ridden about 10 hours on it.

It is really nice! As you said...

I have it set up as kind of a draft legal tri bike with mini clip on bars. The seat is a little forward compared to my pure road position and the front lower. Super fast bike, check out the picture. I have very sweet Reynolds D46 wheels with a wireless powertap hub. The bike is nice and solid in the front end and bb. And it is fast and more areo than a normal road bike. Kind of like a nice Cervelo Carbon Soloist with good manners. And for sure the super paint and look has been getting attention. It looks better built than hanging on the wall.

– Greg Pelican

It takes concentration to appreciate my Crono. After the initial jet-like burst of acceleration, the bike melts away into the tarmac: silent, smooth and flawlessly stiff, it's the only time I've truly felt at one with the road.

In a word, this bike is sublime.

Thank you for manufacturing a great bicycle frame with fork to match. I am an Aircraft Manufacturing Engineer and I always look for anomalies, be it aesthetic, configuration of joints or welds, even components. There are no flaws.

I have been road riding and racing for over 15 years. Now in Masters Division.

Frame has an explosive leap. Frame has Record Group with Cane Creek composite wheels, Richey carbon bar and 4 axis stem.

A sweet ride and I feel superior to other composite manufactures.

I have been competing in triathlons as an age grouper for the past 5 years and am what you would call a "middle of the pack" competitor. I'm a slow swimmer so I'm usually near the back of the pack when I get out of the water. I'm a decent cyclist but in the past I wasn't able to overcome my swim deficit. All that has changed since I got my Crono from Brant Cycle in Burlington, ON.

Last November I completed the Florida Ironman in a time of 12:11:36 and the conditions were the worst they've seen in years (cold & windy). I placed 4th out of 46 in my age group. My bike split was 5:45:01. That's an hour and 2 minutes faster than my 2004 Ironman race. No, the Chrono didn't account for all that improvement, but I give credit to my bike for allowing me to race at my potential for the entire ride. No stopping for sore muscles... no aching back... just a sweet ride. I could have gone faster but I kept waiting for the muscle pains to come (they never did). The bike's dimensions were perfectly constructed for me. The only change I made to the bike was the addition of Zipp 909 wheels. Thanks for making such an awesome bike for me.

You were kind enough to fit me up on a GURU [Ti bike] earlier this season (on a very rainy Saturday). Let me say the bike fits and rides perfectly. I've been averaging about 60 or so miles of hills most weekends and have virtually no lower back tightness (other than the "normal" margin). The few bricks I've done leave me with "fresh" legs off the bike. The bike is very dialed in, responsive and rides like a dream. It's comforting (no pun intended) to finally ride a bike that fits me like it should, without compromising power. Thanks for your help with it – I really appreciate it.

Thanks again for your attention to detail.

– Blair Stearns

I hope you remember me. You were kind enough a few years back to replace the Guru Crono I had ordered on line which didn't fit...I have finished two Hawaii Ironman's on that bike and won my age group last October in Kona on it. I love that bike and am getting ready to buy a brand new Crono from Jack Murray. I test rode it last weekend and absolutely love it. I will be back on it at Hawaii this Fall.

– Chris McCambridge

It's not easy being 6'6" and 200lb and like to ride a bike competitively... To start, there are only a handful of manufacturers that make frames big enough for big riders. Just go and try to see how much variety you can find in 63cm frames. Than there is the material. If you find an aluminium frame you are sure to get a strong and stiff bike but it will most likely be so stiff that it will beat the living daylight out of you – especially if you like long rides. Than there is titanium, which is a better ride (and expensive like hell) but in such a big frame size you will find a lot of flex which you will definitely feel when you try to put the foot down and lean into a serious sprint. Carbon? Most sensible people will advise you against it – in a frame that size and a rider that heavy.

Well, that was my dilemma until a Canadian bike manufacturer caught my eye—Guru. They have been a well known name in triathlon frames but most recently made forays into the road frame segment. Being a small(ish) manufacturer they are carving out a nice little niche in the custom frame segment but looks like they are using their brains too as they are not only offering big frame sizes but also developed an "extreme" series of carbon frames that is 15% stronger than a conventional frame and is perfect for bigger/heavier riders who put more stress on the frame. So, were my stars aligned, finally? Well, yes. A quick email, some correspondence (with superb customer service I may add) on sizes, ride preferences and colours (a difficult decision, let me tell you) followed by a CAD drawing and I was off. 4 weeks later the bike was in my apartment in Singapore - assisted by R&A Cycles in New York. Then came the much anticipated first ride. AMAZING! The frame fit like a glove, there was no need to "get used to" anything, it was like I'd been riding this frame forever. It is carbon, it is light, it is stiff, it is strong, it is comfortable. It climbs like a goat, it descends fast. Pretty much everything I wanted. Do I recommend it? Hell, yes.

I purchased the Crono from Transition Cycle in Pewaukee, Wisconsin (wonderful shop). I picked it up last night (Thursday, April 27). I had my first opportunity to ride it today. I did 60 very hilly and very windy miles in a few ticks over 3 hours. This was over 15 minutes faster than my best time ever on this course (my prior record being set on a windless day).

I am not exaggerating when I claim this course is full of hills – we are talking out-of-the-saddle, burn out the legs climbs.

To say the Crono performed well would be a gross understatement of epic proportion. I expected a smooth ride. I expected a nice aero position. What I could not have imagined was that I would be able to get out of a tuck position after 3 hours with no back pain. NONE! What I could not have dreamed was that this triathlon bike would climb better than my 16 pound Giant TCR Advanced Team road bike. I remained seated for every climb and danced up the hills like they did not exist (.)

I have never experienced such a fantastic ride, and I have ridden and owned a number of very expensive bikes. The bike is stunning. It turned many heads today. You have earned a spokesman for life. I will sing the praises of this remarkable machine to everyone in my triathlon circle (but, I will warn them to be patient regarding the delivery time).

I know Guru takes great pride in its products. You should. You have earned it. Thank you for my soulmate!

Have recently taken delivery of my new GURU from RA Cycles. Am very impressed with the bike. The only problem I have had is the adjuster for the front gear changer--it keeps turning itself in with road vibration . Have made the sports column in our local paper with a win in the Cunningham Classic, one of our most prestigious races on the local circuit 97 Km with some climbs and a wicked head wind. I ordered the extreme lay-up in a 63 cm and find it to be very responsive and a pleasure to ride coming down our regular training climb is 5kmh faster and the bike just goes where I point it.

Cheers From Australia,

Coach Kelly and Coach Rob took at trip to Montreal to get the new Guru Crono 650c bike!!! Wow is it awesome! We had so much fun at Guru. Everyone was so nice. They took us on a tour of the plant. We learned how all the Guru bicycles are made and they offered us bagels and expressos. It's a beautiful facility filled with talented engineers. We saw my bike come out of clear coat and watched the masters build up the frame with the cables and all the components. It was such an amazing experience! Special thanks to everyone at Guru! Michel, Tony, Robert—you all are the best!!!

I just want to thank you for making my new tri bike this July. I love it! I finished the 2006 triathlon season competing in the Miami Man International distance. I took 15 minutes off my previous attempt and finished under 3 hours which was my goal. I came in 2nd overall in my age group—but 1st on the bike!!! Go Guru!!!

poffenj@aol.com

I've been intending to let you know how the new bike is working out, but to tell the truth I'd rather be out riding it. First of all, whoever assembled it did an outstanding job (I suspect it was a combination of Guru and Speedy Reedy). I've ridden it all summer and have done nothing more than center the brakes and tighten the headset once. Every detail, down to the handlebar tape was obviously done by someone who cares. Position, fit and feel are beyond my expectations (thank you Reed). I was skeptical about a custom frame "disappearing underneath you" but the ride is unbelievably smooth & comfortable and it descends like its on rails. Apparently the attention to alignment during frame fabrication, that Guru and many custom builders are meticulous about, is the foundation for ride quality. What more can I say about the build quality of the frame, and the stunning Sydney Green and Orange flash paint job, except that it really stands out in a crowd of Treks...I love riding this bike! I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Guru. It's just that I haven't come up with a good enough reason to own two. Maybe a TT bike someday...

– Terry Notebloom

First off, Robert... Michel... THANK YOU SO MUCH for those amazing bikes!!!!!!!!!! Never in my life have I ridden anything like the Crono. The power transfer feels like it is close to 100%. The bike accelerates, climbs, and cruises just as you want it to. It feels like there is virtually no loss in power. I have also been riding like the "Uber Biker" on my new ride from GURU. Even having the bike in my possession for only 18 hours, I still rode a best ever time in Muskoka. Then I averaged over 40k/h in Milton and in Guelph, and then averaged 39.1 k/h over the VERY windy and hilly course in Peterborough to out bike the second fastest rider by over 8.5 minutes. The GURU Crono is soooooooo fast. My position is nearly dialled in. It has taken several hundred km to get used to the position and its aggressive fit but now I am riding like I stole something.

As you know, I've had my new Guru Crono for a few weeks now...and I just want to let you know just how happy I am with it. It is an absolute dream...simply gorgeous...incredible – you're catching my drift I hope. I've spent quite a bit of time making minor adjustments to the seat position...and I feel like I've got it set up ideally now. The 51cm/51cm dimensions that you recommended are spot on. It is a great fit overall...better much than my old bike...I feel very similar in power generating potential from my old set up, yet I'm in a much more aero position. From a side view....my position looks great...feels great...I'm VERY happy. Thanks so much for being so great to me – my experience with Guru has been outstanding.

You may remember our conversations at the end of last year. I ordered the silver/black Crono through Rotations on Long Island in New York. You have been very helpful and asked me for feedback.

In terms of my experience after having done about 10 rides of up to 75 miles is as follows:

I LOVE IT - do I need to say more?

Okay: It comes down to very basic, but important features that matter every time you hit the pedal of a bike: the Crono is extremely light and responsive. I had high hopes for this and was completely satisfied if not blown away. The Crono "moves" on the flats and I am stunned by the fact how it climbs - the bike is fun to ride all around and very comfortable even on rougher roads. This may sound very simple, but if a bike does all of the above without compromising - that's cool performance!

– Andreas Neumeier

I read the article on your website about Desiree Ficker and her Crono in Kona. I read where there were 38 others on Guru... I was one of them! I am not at the Desiree Ficker level, but I can tell you I love Guru bikes. The silver [one] in the attached pictures is my current ride, what I rode in Hawaii in 2006. The bike is not my first Guru, though. Nor was 2006 my first trip to Kona. I was there in 2004 on a Guru Cron'alu. I loved the Cron'alu... Thanks for the great bikes. Keep up the great work.

I just received my new 2005 Cron'alu and here are my first impressions on the bike.

First, the custom "Games" paint job looks awesome! No one can miss this bike on the road! Thanks to the imaginative Guru rep, Louis, for his great suggestion. From the first pedal stroke, I felt the bike was very light and responsive. We can feel the craftsmanship and attention to details in the bike. It is the first time I ride a custom bike, and will certainly not be the last! As the Guru team says: "I only wish this ride could last forever."

Thanks again for the brilliant work!

I am a seventeen year old road and track racer from the city. I race for the club team XXX Racing - Athletico and the USA Junior National Track Team. I have been racing for five years and enjoyed every moment of it. I train every day of the week for hours upon end. This includes trips to the weight room, workouts on the trainer, rollers, and the track. My ultimate goal is to compete in the Junior World Championships.

To reach this goal, Guru Bicycles has provided me with the equipment to perform at the highest level. My main training tool, my Maestro, is by far the best riding bike I have trained and raced on. In Colorado Springs, CO, at the Olympic Training Center, the Maestro would fly uphill while carrying me on its wings. Cornering matches no other. I took corners during a descent in excess of 35mph. While sprinting, the Maestro felt like it was an extension of my body. Overall, my Maestro is the machine that makes me complete.

Thanks again Guru.

I would like to express my satisfaction with my TriLite and the dealer John Athanas of Pacific Multisport. After looking at numerous tri-bikes and websites I had narrowed my choices down to three different brands. It was the hands on approach of John and his understanding of your product and the fact that he had other customer Guru bikes in his shop that made me get the Guru TriLite! Your website was very helpful in the first part of my research and looking at all the different bikes you offered I was confident that I could get a truly Canadian custom bike!

John was very good at measuring my specs up and noting all the benefits and insights of getting the sizing right, and I was very happy that my component request for Campy was fulfilled (despite the long wait—it was worth it)! The Campy stuff works great and looks great on my bike!

I am very happy with my bike and the great custom paint job and look forward to many races and training to my goal of the Ironman in Penticton this year.

I am know the proud owner of 2 GURU bikes.
One being a Guru TriLite and the other a Guru Flite.
Both bike are absolutely brilliant for there purpose.

The Flite is my training bike and feels and rides great even better than a full carbon bike i had before.(custom built. i love going out and doing my winter training on it it just eats up the miles.(perfect budget winter bike) As with my Trilite i have improved not only because of my fitness but from the custom build bike fitted to suit my lower back problems which I now don't experience. The service i have had from buying these bikes has been second to none even though I live in the United kingdom the delivery time was swift for a perfect custom built bike.

I recently purchased a Tri Ti' from Adams Bicycle World in New Orleans, Louisiana. I expected the bike, as would most bikes in this price range, to be quite nice, but this bike is unreal. I am amazed by the attention to detail and the superb craftsmanship. Not only does the bike look great, it is very fast, nimble, aerodynamic, and the ride is extremely smooth. I cannot say enough about this bike. I absolutely love it. For the first week, I kept it in my den next to my T.V. so I could admire it all night!

I only wish more triathletes were aware of your great product.

Keep up the great work.

Owning a Guru since January 2005 has been a great experience all around. The qualities of the bike, as well as the quick and attentive service are exceptional. I bought a 2005 New Steel in January hoping for a comfortable ride as I attempted my biggest year in mileage, over 8000 miles. So far I am about half way there, and my journey has been a very comfortable ride. Combining the modern reshaped Italian steel tubing with a high end carbon rear triangle makes for a light, but very strong and stable ride. Long rides are a joy, as I am on a bike that fits and a bike that is forgiving on the back. Long twisty mountain descents are fun, as my wheels feel firmly planted to ground at high speeds and quick turns. And, I can't forget the components package and beautiful paint, all well thought out and carefully executed. Gurus' customer service is second to none. Tony is quick to answer my questions, and deliver spare parts to my dealer when I tinker a little too much. Having this life-line, when depending on your bike to fully function for 5-7 rides a week, is very reassuring for someone who puts so much time in to riding. My new wish list item is a Crono, for a super fast TT time. I would recommend a Guru to anyone looking to enjoy their ride.

Hi, here is my Guru experience. I have been riding and doing Triathlons since 1999 when I first started in the sprint events, I have done 3 Olympic distance triathlons and I wanted to move to Half Ironman, but I knew I need to upgrade my bike, to make the whole thing easier on my ageing frame!

I spent a year looking at bikes, frames and test riding. I was not sure, too much money, don't like how it rides. Well I visited the Bicycling Australia show recently and for the first time I saw the Guru bikes. The moment I laid my eyes on it I knew I wanted to ride one. 2 days later I contacted Guru in Australia and was told to go to Swim Bike Run, a local bike shop. They had the bikes from the show ready to test ride. After test riding about 20 bikes and visiting countless bike shops it took no more than 30 seconds to realize I had found the bike I was going to invest my hard earned money in.

Not having the bucks for 2 bikes, I had to compromise and purchased the Carbonio, a road bike that I will tweak the setup for triathlons. I cannot believe how smooth the bike rides, the rough roads are now smooth roads and the smooth roads are like cycling on air. No rattles, no shakes just a smooth, extremely light yet very stiff ride. It seems to have the lightness of so many carbon frames I tried but also the stiffness of high end Aluminum frames, I could not be happier.

However, my wife is very upset and she has already suspected that I am cheating on her.

Thanks Guru!
